Medical helicopter crashes in Texas, patient killed, 3 hurt

Medical flights are usually reserved for only the sickest of sick people. They are usually used when life-saving measures that are necessary for the patient aren't available at one hospital. When a person gets onboard one of these medical flights, they don't expect to die on the flight. Certainly, their family members expect that they will land safely at the destination hospital. For one patient, an accident while he was on the medical flight claimed his life.

The helicopter crashed on a street in Wichita Falls, Texas, in the early morning hours. The helicopter burst into flames. Coworkers of the helicopter crew were the first people on the scene of the deadly crash. The helicopter was intact. The Federal Aviation Administration were going to the scene, as were investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The patient was being flown to United Regional Health Care in Wichita Falls when the Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter crashed. The patient was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident. A flight nurse and paramedic were hurt in the accident. Both were taken to a burn unit in Dallas in critical condition. The pilot of the helicopter was taken to United Regional and is said to be in serious but stable condition.

Losing a loved one is never easy, but losing your loved one in a horrible accident like this seems worse. On top of the loss of a life, three people will have to fight to regain a normal life.

Anyone who is injured in an accident like this one has the right to seek compensation, as do the family members of anyone killed in a horrific accident.
