Trucker responsible for Texas girl's death gets 4-year sentence

It is just a matter of common sense that truck drivers should pay attention to bus stops and other areas where pedestrians might be. Failing to do so while they are driving can lead to catastrophic accidents. The family of a young girl who was killed by a semi-truck while waiting for her bus can finally put one aspect of the incident behind them.

The parents of the girl who was killed were awarded $6.71 million from the trucking company and driver last year. While that might help them to deal with her final expenses and other related expenses, it was only one part of their new journey without her.

The driver responsible for the horrible semi truck accident that killed an 11-year-old girl has recently been sentenced to four years in prison for negligent homicide in connection with the accident. The truck driver, who said he didn't see her standing on the curb, ran over her while she was waiting for the bus on Sept. 24, 2012. This event might finally let the family of this sixth grader have a little bit of peace since they are done with the legal proceeding associated with the case now.

As much as families who lose loved ones in trucking accidents might want to just put the horrible memories behind them, taking action as this family did to seek compensation for their loss might help them to cope with the financial impact of the loss. Knowing how to seek compensation in Texas courts might help to make the process easier.
