Man faces charges in Texas for deadly accident on seawall

The Galveston Seawall in Texas turned into the site of a deadly accident when one person was killed and another was sent to the hospital. The crash occurred on Sunday, June 8, right around seven in the morning.

According to the police reports, a Ford pickup was driving down the road near the seawall when it swerved out of its lane. It went across five more lanes of traffic without hitting another vehicle, but it then ran over a pair of people who had been standing on the side of the road. The truck then left Seawall Boulevard entirely, driving over the wall itself, and not stopping until it was sitting on the sand at the bottom of the wall.

A witness who saw the crash indicated that the truck had actually started out on 21st Street. It had then made a right turn to get onto Seawall Boulevard, where it sped up and crossed the lanes of traffic.

The man who was allegedly behind the wheel of the truck is 49 years old. Police have said that he will now face charges for aggravated assault and manslaughter. The bond total for both of these charges is set at $750,000.

The driver of the truck had minor injuries from the crash, and he was taken to John Sealy Hospital for treatment. A 48-year-old man was also brought to a care center in serious condition, and a 62-year-old man passed away at the scene of the crash.

A car accident that takes a life or one that causes injury, both of which happened in this case, could be the subject of a lawsuit to seek compensation for loss and medical bills. Anyone who has been injured in this fashion should know what rights he or she has to this type of compensation.
