Drinking and driving is something that no person should ever do simply because there is a possibility of causing an accident. The problem with drunk driving is that lapses in judgment can lead to serious problems. A recent Texas accident is a stark reminder about why people shouldn't ever drink and drive.
The accident happened on Kingwood Drive when a man who was allegedly drunk was driving too fast and weaving in and out of traffic. Apparently, he misjudged the distance between his vehicle and a Monte Carlo in front of him because he hit the back end of that car. The force of the impact made the driver of the Monte Carlo lose control. She hit a fixed object after going off the road.
The 52-year-old female was pronounced dead on the scene of the drunk driving accident. An 8-year-old female who was in the car with the woman was injured. That child was taken to Texas Children's Hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
The man who caused the accident is facing a charge of intoxicated manslaughter in connection with the accident. While seeing the man face criminal charges for this accident might give the family some comfort, it likely won't take away all the pain.
The family members of the girl who was injured and the family members of the woman who died might decide to seek compensation for this drunk driving accident. Making claims for final expenses or medical expenses might help to take away the financial strain that this accident caused for these people.
