Mother and daughter injured in Texas car accident

When you are driving with a child in your vehicle, you are likely going to be as careful as possible to ensure that you get to your destination safely. While you can control your actions on the roadways, you can't control the actions of others. For one 31-year-old mother, another person's actions near the Panola County Expo Center led to tragedy.

The mother, who had her 3-year-old daughter strapped into a car seat in the rear seat of her Saturn Ion, was waiting to turn onto Ball Park Road from the Southwest Loop. A 31-year-old man driving a Chevy Silverado ran into the back of the Ion about mid-morning on Feb. 27, 2014. No airbags deployed in the accident and both adults were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Emergency services responded to the serious car accident. The mother was taken to ETMC Carthage and then transported to ETMC Tyler. She was in critical condition. Her daughter was taken to ETMC Carthage and transported to LSU in Shreveport, where she was listed in stable condition. The driver of the Silverado was taken to ETMC Carthage and released.

For the family in the Ion, the car accident is devastating, since the mother and child are both in the hospital. This family might have the right to seek compensation for the injuries they suffered in this car accident. Before proceeding with those claims, they should make sure that they understand their rights and responsibilities. If they are awarded compensation, it might help to alleviate some of the financial strain caused by this event.
