Man dies in accident; 46-year-old driver arrested

A Texas man faces charges of intoxicated manslaughter after a 45-year-old man who was on his way to work lost his life in a crash on the interstate in early July. The alleged drunk driving accident resulted in a $150,000 bail for the accused man. The Texas Penal Code classifies intoxicated manslaughter as a second-degree felony with a maximum sentence of 20 years in custody and a maximum fine of $10,000.

Doctor being sued and license revoked

A Texas neurosurgeon is being held responsible for the wrongful death of two former patients who underwent botched surgeries, according to the Texas Medical Board. One living patient filed a lawsuit in county court this week, accusing the doctor of making costly mistakes during her surgery as well. After a somewhat routine posterior lumbar interbody fusion, the women emerged from surgery in a wheelchair and thousands of dollars in debt.

Ways to reduce birth injuries in Texas labor and delivery

C-section deliveries are the most commonly performed procedures in the United States. Although rare, sometimes the surgical procedure can injury newborns during the delivery process. However, a new device, called C SAFE, may reduce injuries during C-sections in Texas and around the country.
