Alcohol suspected in fatal wrong-way crash

A fiery accident killed two people early on the morning of April 14, 2013. The possible drunk driving accident occurred in Houston. The victims of the accident were not immediately identified but were both in the same car that was struck by a vehicle traveling the wrong direction. Witnesses noted the car traveling the wrong direction but were unable to stop the driver.

The driver traveling the wrong direction was identified as a woman in her early 20s driving a sedan. She was not seriously injured in the crash. A passenger in a third vehicle which was forced into the retaining wall was also not reported as receiving any injuries. The accident occurred on Beltway 8 North at approximately 5 a.m.

Officers are continuing to investigate the accident with the participation of the Houston Institute of Forensic Sciences. The driver faces intoxication manslaughter charges with other charges possible as the investigation continues.

In Texas, individuals who are injured in a drunk driving accident, or the family members of people killed in such an accident, may wish to seek the experience of an attorney familiar with these types of cases. The attorney may be able to help the injured party seek the costs of damaged vehicles, health care costs, lost wages, funeral costs, and pain and suffering. The attorneys may also be able to help the injured parties understand the legal system and how it operates, reducing the stress of the legal proceedings. Injured parties may also find it helpful to work with attorneys who may explain their rights and options and recommend courses of action.
