A 25-year-old Houston man died after an accident on Highway 59 North occurred in the early morning hours on Aug. 18. According to officers with the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division, a white Cadillac DeVille changed lanes and crossed the median, striking a truck. The impact caused the Cadillac to spin before striking a freeway shoulder divider.
As he attempted to cross Memorial Drive at an intersection in the 6700 block, a man riding a bicycle was hit by a car. The car crash caused him to fly 40 feet from the point of impact, and he later died at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained. According to police, the car that hit him, a Chevrolet Impala, then swerved into a light post.
A Texas man who's believed to have been involved in a fatal car accident was taken into police custody and charged with intoxication manslaughter. According to the report, the car accident occurred when the man allegedly ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, who was identified as a 66-year-old woman, died at the scene.
