Houston Environmental Crimes Attorney

At Tritico Rainey, our Texas environmental crime lawyers defend individuals and companies facing a grand jury investigation, criminal charges, administrative charges or civil actions because of violations of state and federal environmental laws.

Types Of Environmental Crime Charges

Attorney Chris Tritico has extensive experience in both the prosecution and defense of environmental crimes and in civil court cases involving violation of environmental laws. He has represented individuals as well as large and small businesses who have faced criminal and civil penalties for:

  • Dumping oil, gas and other toxic substances down sewers, into the water supply, or on land that drains into public lands and waters, and other water pollution issues
  • Illegal transport of hazardous materials
  • Illegal storage of toxic materials
  • Illegal discharge of toxins into the air and other air pollution issues
  • Oil spills and other instances of ground pollution

Federal Grand Jury Investigations

It is not uncommon in federal environmental cases for a “person of interest” to be subpoenaed to appear before a Grand Jury. We have extensive experience advising people who have been called to testify before a grand jury, either because they are the target of an environmental pollution investigation or as a witness. Although a lawyer cannot represent you at the hearing, it is wise to speak with a lawyer in advance of your appearance. We can advise you if it is in your best interest to cooperate with the investigation, or if it would be better to refuse to speak.

Minimizing Potential Penalties Through Proactive Measures

If you own a business and you become aware of an environmental problem on your property or as a result of your product, you do not have to wait until criminal charges or civil consequences occur. You can take action today that could mitigate any future criminal actions brought against you. We work with companies to develop action plans to remedy environmental deficiencies.
