Public School Teachers
Our administrative law attorneys have significant experience representing public school teachers throughout Texas in administrative proceedings. Matters in which we regularly represent teachers include:
- Termination of employment
- Allegations of physical or sexual abuse
- Failure to follow directives
- Licensing issues (SBEC)
We also represent teachers in TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge & Skills) exams in which students fail to meet minimum requirements. We represent teachers in all proceedings before the SBEC (State Board for Educator Certification).
Our administrative law lawyers represent physicians and other medical professionals in peer review proceedings involving discipline and misconduct. Sanctions for misconduct and malpractice can include:
- Private notations
- Public notations
- Required supervision
- License suspension
- License revocation
Law Enforcement Officers
We defend police officers, sheriffs and other law enforcement personnel facing disciplinary action or unjustified shooting reviews. In Houston, police department matters can go to arbitration or to the civil service commission. In the case of a shooting review, the case will go before a grand jury. In the sheriff's department, however, there is no outside review committee. It's always advisable to have legal representation at any of these hearings.
